Tales From Work: Episode 3

Tales From Work: How I Got Fired in a Week By Inaya Syed "How do you get fired in a week?" you might have asked when seeing this title. Let me explain.  After being Job Scammed, I applied to a job at Staples, the office store. I was interviewed, and was offered a job. I wanted to dip my toes into retail for a bit.  So, I accepted the job and was trained for three days.  The next four days was kind of a nightmare. It was back to school season, and I was new to this. It became emotionally taxing after those four days. They put me on a thirty two hour shift for the week. I came in late one day, as I was given the wrong information as to when my shift even started. It was also a week before my sister was getting married. So, I requested two days off. Later in the week, I was getting ready, and I recieved a phone call just before I was about to leave. "We appreciate you handling the register, but we decided to let you go." I immediately told my family. They were saddene...

Tales From Work: Episode 2

Tales From Work: The Time I Got Job Scammed By Inaya Syed Have you ever been hired for a job only to get your bank account frozen later on? Let me explain.  In the early days of working, I had an account with Upwork, a platform for freelancers. I sent out tons of proposals, hoping to land some gig work for my business and earn extra income on the side. Finally, one day, I got a response from a man named Adam Goldberg. I trusted this work too much.  I worked for the person for two weeks, only to receive my paycheck of $800.00. I was ecstatic. I cashed it into the bank right away. Little did I know, it was a fraudulent check. It froze my bank account. I was suddenly angry. I texted the boss, Adam Goldberg, and demanded to know what was going on.  "Why would they think it was a fraudulent check" and "Send me it back" were his responses. "I cannot. My bank account is frozen," I replied. "You scammed me!" He replied. I was flabbergasted. How could so...

Tales From Work: Episode 1

Tales From Work: My First Ever Job and How It Backfired for Me By Inaya Syed Have you ever applied to a job? Have you gotten said job? If so, be sure to miss out on whatever I did for my first ever job.  The year was 2022. I had recently turned eighteen years old. I accepted my first ever job after opening a bank account. It was at a tutoring place, with a very tough, but fair lady who was running the place in West Babylon, New York. I was the worst employee you could have!  During my shifts, I would set up for the student, only to receive young kids I couldn't handle. I was never really trained to deal with young children, and I struggled explaining subjects to them. Nevertheless, I would always say positive things about the child to their mother, no matter how awful and evil they were.  One particular shift, I had fallen asleep before the student arrived, only to be woken up by my former boss. With the student. So, not only did my former boss saw me asleep, but my stude...

Inaya Ali Syed's Introduction

Hi everyone! My name is Inaya Ali Syed, and I am a Mechanical Engineering major. As a Mechanical Engineering major, I work with robots and a bit of AI. Currently, I am a student researcher and assistant to the Machine Shop at New York Institute of Technology. As a South Asian woman, I find that most of us tend to struggle to survive in this world. So, I want to create a platform in which we uplift other majors who are exceptions to Pre-medical and other stereotypes.

Hidaya Ali Syed's introduction

Hello Everyone, Hidaya Ali Syed here. Not much to say about me, just that I am a Plant Science Major. A majority of the people reading this probably are confused about the concept. Basically, the Plant Science major is a mixture of Agricultural Sciences, Botany, Soil Science, along with Agricultural Business, Business Administration, and Economics. There are also many other aspects but you get the point. I mainly got into this program through a love of gardening and excelling in science. That's all for now, good day!
