My Bi-Monthly Update: Classes, Day in my Life Video, NASA SUITS competition, etc.
By Inaya Syed
Hello, everybody! Welcome to another edition of my bi-monthly update! I have a lot to share, so let's get right into it!
Increase in Federal Work Study award
To start off, I wanted to share some good news! I received an increase in my federal work-study award. This means I have my job at the library until the end of the fiscal year. The total is $5,000.
Classes
So far, classes have been going well. I had just taken a Calculus III exam this Thursday. I think I will be alright in terms of grades and workload. So far, I am not entirely drowning in assignments.
Clubs
As for clubs, I decided to bring back the Society of Women Engineers to NYIT's Long Island Campus. I am starting the interviews soon. On top of this, the chess club is organizing a tournament on November 13th. Pull up if you are interested! On top of all this, I started producing my own video content for the campus slate, the student-run newspaper on campus. I have already produced an interview and posted it on their YouTube channel. I also produced some content regarding the career fair and posted that on their Instagram. I plan to post more engaging content on their platforms, as well as mine. Speaking of which...
Day in My Life Video
This video was somewhat difficult to produce overall. I used Canva to produce the video and edit the video. I shot each video separately and compiled the videos into a format that I liked. I started to get back into posting on my Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. If you have not seen it yet, I produced a "day in my life" video where I went over my day, what I did, etc. I literally posted it everywhere I could.
NASA SUITS Competition
As for the NASA SUITS competition, my team and I are working on getting the designs in and the proposal done! The proposal is due October 30th, so there really is not the option of time to waste! While the proposal is mostly done, we are waiting on the UI team to get the designs.
Acceptance to Visit Northport Power Plant
I received a message last night via WhatsApp group chat that I was selected to visit a Northport Power Plant on Friday, October 24th. I could not be more excited about this, since we are being hosted by the Stony Brook University chapter of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. I can hardly wait!
Overall, it has been an exciting, productive, and great month of October for me. Wait until November 6th, when I post the next update! Until then, have a great day, and keep watching and reading!
