How I Got My Groove Back: My tale of struggle and triumph
How I Got My Groove Back: My tale of struggle and triumph

Last Semester was not it: I lost someone dear to me, which decreased my motivation to study and discouraged me from even trying to study. I lost my friends due to a misunderstanding between us and a lack of respect. My semester only got worse when I failed three classes: Physics, Calculus II, and statistics, where the problem was me this time. The professors tried their best to shake me out of the doomsday mood I was constantly in, but they had their jobs to attend to.
Over the winter break, I did not want to fail anymore, so I studied physics, calculus, and statistics theorems to give myself a head start on my classes. I also bought a reusable notebook called Aeronote from Walmart, ($14.97 retail price) and started Notion pages to store the notes I wrote.
The first thing on my agenda was to improve my studying habits. I tried everything in the book: letting a candle determine my productivity and studying habits, putting my phone in another room, etc. I found the easiest and most efficient way to study was with a friend I recently made over the semester.
I was now ready for the next semester. On my first calculus test of the semester, I got a 45%... so obviously, I had to change some things up. I slowly started to get better, and it helped that I had friends who were willing to help in certain classes. I also took off physics for the semester, so, I was able to focus on my other classes. So far, it has been effective in raising my GPA and my knowledge. Ramadan also helped, with focusing on these classes and devoting some time to those subjects. I got better and better at these subjects as time went on. Moral of the story: never give your energy to the wrong people or things, and never give up on the basis of failure.
